Pocklington Arts Centre to Hold Comedy Festival to Celebrate 25th Anniversary.

Pocklington Arts Centre is set to mark its milestone 25th anniversary with a series of specially curated events, including its first-ever comedy festival on 31 May.

This unmissable addition to the Arts Centre’s jam-packed 2025 line-up promises comedy fun for all ages from some of the UK’s top acts.

The day-long event will kick off with a Festival Fringe Preview in the Arts Centre’s recently refurbished studio space from 12pm. Four individually-ticketed performances will offer comedy fans an exclusive first look at work-in-progress shows from a stellar lineup of comedians including:

Seeta Wrightson – Taking audiences on a rollercoaster journey through the trials and tribulations of a thirty something mixed-race, mixed-up woman with ADHD impulse control issues.

Chris Cantrill – A three-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, showcasing an hour of brand-new material.

Louise Young – A tour support act for Alan Carr and Tom Allen, bringing her fresh, sharp-witted stand-up to the stage.

Joe Kent-Walters as Frankie Monroe – Winner of the Edinburgh Fringe Best Newcomer award, performing as the eccentric owner of The Misty Moon (a working men’s club in Rotherham… and a portal to hell).

Younger comedy fans will also have a rare opportunity to join in the fun with a family-friendly kids’ show at 2pm. Hosted by Lee Kyle, hailed as a ‘top up-and-coming comedy performer’ by the BBC, the show will include high-energy antics from ‘just Josh’, as well as the mischievous duo Jeddy Bear & Garry, known for their world record attempts and pie facing madness.

A mixed-bill performance with laughs aplenty will round off the day from 8.00pm in the main auditorium. Hosted by multi-award-winning comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean (Live at The Apollo, QI), this headline show will feature fresh performances from Chris Cantrill, Louise Young, Frankie Monroe, and Seeta Wrightson, each delivering different material from their earlier shows for a side-splitting finale.

Venue Manager Dave Parker said “We’re incredibly excited to be holding our first-ever comedy festival as part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations. This milestone means a lot to us, so I’m delighted to be able to celebrate by bringing award-winning comedians to Pocklington for this special occasion."

Tickets, priced from just £10, go on sale at 11am on Thursday 6 February at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk.
