We Are Creative and Pocklington Town of Culture Bid Ideas Sharing Event
Who is it for: All local artists, creatives and those interested in the arts, history, culture and community of Pocklington
This is an opportunity to share your thoughts, ideas and vision to help shape the Expression of Interest that will be submitted as part of Pocklington’s Town of Culture Bid.
What story can be told of Pocklington? What makes it special? What makes it strong? What is its future? What could we achieve with a Town of Culture status?
Meet Roland Cronshaw, Mayor of Pocklington, and Andy Bowden, Chair of Pocklington Rugby in the Community, who will talk about what the Town of Culture Bid entails, what has been done so far, and what needs to happen next. This session will explore your ideas and thoughts about Pocklington. Be part of the story. Help shape the bid for Pocklington to be a Town of Culture
Roly Cronshaw said “The idea for Pocklington to bid for UK Town of Culture 2028 began with a simple conversation between myself and Andy about the town’s extraordinary heritage and community spirit, and how these could be brought together to tell Pocklington’s story on a national stage.”
Andy Bowden said: “The moment we saw the Town of Culture bid announced we knew this was a great opportunity for our town. An enormous amount of background research has been undertaken over the course of the last 6 weeks, with the bid team working tirelessly to ensure we represent the views of all our community and developing a structured base for the delivery of a fully inclusive and expansive programme for 2028 and beyond. We will continue to engage with the community at all stages and are confident we and the town will succeed.”
