This collection of collages, etchings and paintings is different from the things I used to make. That is because I am different. My world has changed. I now spend much, much more time gazing at the patterns of leaves, perching on an uneven stone watching creatures in our pond or lugging rocks around to try and make a house I think snakes would like.
Having grown up just outside Pocklington, Millie returned to Yorkshire from London with her family seven years ago to a small village on the edge of the Howardian Hills. Always concerned with flora and fauna, Millie makes paintings, prints, collages, drawings and pottery. Shapes and colours, spots and stripes reflect and repeat creating layers of interest. The colour, freedom and movement of her brushwork in the larger works is distilled in the prints to make equally painterly drypoint etchings of the creatures that have become so much part of her world since moving out of the city.
