We are thrilled to bring you this new course – Creative Textiles. This session will allow you to explore a range of creative textile processes using dyes, inks, pains, surfaces and stitch. Taking a mixed-media approach, you will be given opportunity and support to explore unusual creative combinations to create exciting textile artwork. In this session you will:

Explore the use of dyes, inks and paints to create background surfaces. Taking an experimental approach to create exciting backgrounds to work on later in the session

Experiment with free-motion embroidery – learn how to use a machine in free-motion mode to create simple linear stitch drawings from your own artwork or using some of our template images

Create a plan for your piece, with the option of exploring repeating pattern and adding paint base layers

Stitch your artwork to your background using free-motion embroidery and optional hand embroidery

Holly will provide you with support and guidance throughout – even if you have never done anything like this before, you will love the experimental approach. Holly has been teaching for over 15 years and can help you to create an artwork to be proud of.

All materials and equipment are provided. PPE is provided, but inks and dyes can stain so please wear appropriate clothing.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Please bring your own lunch.
