An Introduction to AI by Dr Neil Barrett

What is Artificial Intelligence? Is it a benign presence, supporting our modern lives? Or is it a threat to livelihood, environment and health? Friend or Foe? In this decidedly non-expert talk Dr Neil Barrett will describe the history and the nature of modern AI systems, will seek to explain the advantages and disadvantages of such novel and newly-powerful technologies, and will answer some of the questions you may not know you need to ask!

Neil is a recent Chair of Pocklington & District u3a, respected author and retired computer scientist. In his career Neil has been a university lecturer at the University of York, a Fellow at Groupe Bull in France, the Technical Director for a computer security consultancy working around the globe, and a visiting professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Royal Military College of Science.
