Creating a Storm

Creating a Storm

Crafters from the community have worked hard to creative a beautiful festive storm of snowflakes that can now be seen adorning the walls of Pocklington Arts Centre.

Using recycled materials as much as possible, local artists, crafters, and community groups have come together to produce an array of handcrafted snowflakes, showcasing techniques like knitting, crochet, and papercraft.

This festive installation has been unveiled to coincide with the Arts Centre’s 2024 Christmas production, Jack Frost’s Christmas Wish, written by Elizabeth Godber and directed by Jane Thornton, running until December 24.

Coordinated by community artist Kate Noble, the installation not only brings a sense of festive cheer to all that see it, but also showcases the wealth of talent in the local community.

Contributors of all ages have poured their time and creativity into this heartwarming project and we encourage everyone to drop by and admire their work before the Arts Centre closes on Christmas Eve.

Thanks go to all of our snowflake makers including 1st Melbourne Brownies, 7th Pocklington Guides and NWW Division Rangers, 5th Pocklington Rainbows, 1st Pocklington Scout Group – Beavers Young People Count, Rugby in the Community, All Saints Church Craft Group (Mary Ballard & Carol Taylor), U3A Patchwork and Quilty Group (Karen Benge), Pocklington Hookers Crochet Group (Jane Barham, Julie Genney, Gail Pick, Heen Smith, Jill Smith, Lesley and Christine, Chris Richardson, Janice Ward, Sam Wiggle), Brenda Christison – Felty & Fabulous, Kath Clarke, Joyce Buckle, Lindsay Conway, Liz Dearsley, Linda, Jeanette Dickinson, Melissa Gray, Pearl Harris, Damian Mawer, Faith Mawer, Leanne Maycock, Carol Midgeley, Rebecca Moody, Leah Morton, Kate Noble, Laura Rix, Beryl Rendall, Elvie Tuthill Pedley, Dexter Tuthill Pedley, Thunk-It theatre, Wolds Wonders.
